Video Games GOOD vs BAD

Video games have been huge in the news a couple of years back. But not in a good way, There were a ton of groups trying to block video games from young teens because violent ones like grand Theft Auto or halo. There were several studies that proved that vidoeo games are bad for you and they may cause the player to be become violent.

To me this is all a bunch of crap. There is no way a normal teenager is going to play a game of Grand Theft Auto and then get the idea that this would be fun to do in real life. There has to be something wrong with the person in the first place. These groups have successfully made it harder to buy these violent video games. but it is just a nuisance to the parents because they now have to make the trip to the store and buy it for their kid. To me some of games need to be 18+ but they have put 18+ on every game that is just a little bit violent. Some of the reason why these groups believe video games are bad: mental strain, sleep deprive and many other.

Since there have been studies about how video games make people violent. Video Gamers have done studies to show that playing video games have many beneficial benefits to it. Many of these violent video game require the player to use their mind and come up with the best way to achieve a goal. Most of the violent games also have some sort of live feature which in turn allows the player to interact with people all around the world improving their communication skill.

  1. This is a perfect example of your mothers of america trying to control what kids are exposed to. When i was 14 i could go into best buy and buy a rated r movie and an explicit cd and they wouldnt even say a word. Of course even ps2 wasnt out yet and they didnt have really any ratings on the games. Even when they did start the ratings they werent really enforced. I think video games for those of us who can play them without going out and killing people are just a way to get away from the drain of everyday life. If i feel like beating someone up i just pick up gta4 and go to town, not because i would beat somebody up if i didn't, but because it gets that stress off your chest. I think that video games of the future will be like the matrix and you can go in to these games and actually live them instead of just play them on a tv. Even the united states military is using games to train soldiers in tactics and squad leadership. I also think that the government puts games out there with lots of violence to dull the kids who are future soldiers to the thought of killing.

  2. In agreement wit both your posts, video games don't harm people. People harm people. If a person gets the idea to go shooting through town he/she is going to do it, it's their mentality. The video game didn't brainwash them into doing it. For instance, some people have blamed Columbine on video games, officials stating that they found first person shooter video games at their house. But again, somebody has to have the mentality and mindset to do something like that. Video games didn't make them do anything. They chose it for themselves.

  3. As much as video games are entertaining,
I think parents should watch what their children
are playing. Some children are too immature
and can not handle what they are playing and
become to involved with it. I'm not saying
that video games cause violence, but it may
help in some ways. It may give children
some ideas, but not all cases of violence are
caused by video games. It does suck that the
laws of buying certain items in stores has
changed because some people are mature enough
to handle them. Although, I think that some
should definitely not be exposed to violence
in games and should go play outside instead,
haha, they don't need those images in their
    brain. :):).

  5. o ya. one would have to be an idiot to go and take a video game and use it in real life life. there are other factors that contribute to maniacs like that. like how they were brought up. good going bud.

  6. You've obviously chosen a powerful topic...I'd like to see you dip into some evidence to support your point of view, Colton.

I get tired of people always putting the blame somewhere else for their kids...video games, rock music, school, etc.
